Barcelona coach Hansi Flick spoke after the spectacular match against Inter in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, which ended 3-3 at the “Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.” The German admitted that the team didn’t start the game well but praised the players’ reaction and the performance of Lamine Yamal.
“We didn’t start well, but then we came back,” Flick said after the match. “This is the first of two matches—we have to win the next one in Milan. That will be a final before the final.”
He highlighted the high level of competition at this stage of the Champions League and complimented Inter for their strength in set pieces:
“We are in the Champions League semi-finals, where great and experienced teams play. Inter showed that today. They had the advantage in set pieces with four or five very tall players.”
Flick also praised the performance of young talent Lamine Yamal, who scored Barcelona’s first goal and sparked the team’s reaction:
“Lamine showed the path we need to follow. That goal for 2-1 was very important. We did a good job, and now we have to fight until the end.”
The return leg will be played next week at San Siro, where the finalist aiming for the most prestigious European club trophy will be decided.
