Paris Saint-Germain secured a major away win against Arsenal, taking an important step toward the Champions League final.
The French side triumphed with a narrow 1–0 victory on Tuesday evening at “Anfield,” thanks to an early goal by Ousmane Dembele.
The French forward opened the scoring in the fourth minute after a quick and well-coordinated PSG attack.
Arsenal tried to get back into the game and managed to find the net early in the second half through Mikel Merino in the 47th minute. However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed due to an offside.
As the minutes passed, PSG had opportunities to extend their lead, but Luis Enrique’s players were wasteful in front of goal, missing several clear chances.
The return leg will be played in a week at the “Parc des Princes” in Paris, where the first finalist of this season will be decided.
The other semifinal clash, between Barcelona and Inter, will take place on Wednesday at “Montjuïc” in Barcelona.
