Rumors about the future of the Real Madrid bench are growing increasingly louder.
The name of Xabi Alonso is once again at the center of the conversation.
According to Sky Sports, the Bayer Leverkusen coach has resumed contact with the “royal” club, fueling speculation about a possible return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Bayer Leverkusen is said not to be surprised by this situation and, as reported, the German club is already considering alternative options in case Alonso decides to accept the offer from Madrid.
However, Real Madrid has not yet taken any official steps toward Leverkusen, keeping everything behind the scenes for now.
Alonso himself, in a press conference, chose to remain calm and not speak publicly.
“I don’t know. I have to prepare for the important match against St. Pauli. It’s not the right time to talk about the future because we are in a decisive phase of the season and want to stay focused,” he stated.
With the end of the season approaching and Carlo Ancelotti’s future still uncertain, Xabi Alonso is seen as the most likely candidate to take the helm at Real Madrid this coming summer.
