Bayern Munich has reported two new injury concerns ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Serie A leaders, Inter, scheduled for this month. Raphael Guerreiro is currently training individually, while German midfielder Leon Goretzka was forced to leave training mid-session on Wednesday. Bayern will host Inter at Allianz Arena on April 8. The second leg will be held at San Siro a week later, on April 16. The winner of this tie will face Borussia Dortmund or Barcelona in the semi-finals.
Bayern Hit with Another Double Injury Blow Ahead of Inter Clash
Vincent Kompany faces a concerning list of injuries ahead of next week’s match against the Nerazzurri.
Alphonso Davies suffered a cruciate ligament (ACL) tear while on international duty with Canada in March and is not expected to return until the 2025-26 season.
Centre-back Dayot Upamecano has also sustained a knee injury, and while it is less serious than Davies’ injury, he is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks, putting his availability for both matches against Inter in doubt.
Hiroki Ito, who joined Bayern last summer but has struggled with injuries, suffered his second metatarsal fracture this season and will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Bayern’s injury list also includes goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović, and forward Kingsley Coman.
In another blow to the Bavarians, Wednesday reports confirmed that Raphael Guerreiro, who was the only available left-back, is training individually and is at risk of missing the first leg of the quarter-final against Inter.
Goretzka, who scored in Germany’s recent win over Italy in the UEFA Nations League, was also forced to leave training on Wednesday, casting doubt on his participation in this crucial match.
