Mourinho Could Face Up to 10-Match Ban After Incident with Galatasaray Coach

Tensions flared once again between fierce rivals Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray during the Turkish Cup quarter-final, as Jose Mourinho was sent off after the match for pinching opposing coach Okan Buruk’s nose.

This latest incident follows weeks of controversy, with Mourinho already serving a four-match ban due to alleged racist remarks—an ongoing case under investigation by Turkish authorities.

According to Foot Mercato, the disciplinary committee is reviewing the case, and Mourinho could face significant consequences.

If his actions are deemed “unsportsmanlike behavior,” he risks a suspension of 1 to 3 matches and a fine ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 Turkish lira (€1,200-€12,000). However, if classified as “aggression,” he could be banned for 5 to 10 matches.

With Fenerbahçe in a tight title race and aiming to win the Turkish championship, a prolonged absence for Mourinho could be costly.

The Yellow-Navy club is reportedly closely monitoring the situation as they await the disciplinary committee’s final decision.
