Argentine legend Lionel Messi is reportedly unwilling to play in Inter Miami’s upcoming match.
In the summer of 2023, Messi turned his back on European football after a glittering career at Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner moved to MLS side Inter Miami, a club owned by former football star David Beckham.
Since joining Miami, Messi has been reunited with several of his former teammates, including Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba.
Inter Miami is set to face Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday night as part of the CONCACAF Cup.
The match is expected to go ahead as scheduled, despite concerns that temperatures will be extremely low, around –15 degrees Celsius.
Ahead of the match, it has been revealed that Messi is not eager to play in such conditions.
“Sources have informed me that Lionel Messi does not want to play in that extreme cold on Tuesday against Sporting Kansas City.”
“Whether he will play or not has not yet been decided, but there is a chance that Messi will not feature in this match,” journalist Franco Panizo stated.
