Bayern Munich veteran Joshua Kimmich continues to leave his contract situation uncertain, now with the possibility of signing a pre-contract agreement with other clubs as he enters the final six months of his current deal.
However, things remain calm on the southern front, with no moves from Real Madrid or Barcelona so far. Kimmich confirmed over the weekend that there have been no updates regarding his talks with Bayern, despite sporting director Christoph Freund stating that he was confident the 29-year-old would remain a Bayern player.
According to Diario AS, Kimmich has identified several clubs he would be interested in joining, with Real Madrid at the top of the list, while Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal are also in the mix.
Barcelona had previously shown interest in Kimmich and have a connection through Hansi Flick, but his high wage demands, along with the emergence of Marc Casado and Marc Bernal, have put their interest on hold for now.
Last week, reports surfaced that there had been contact between Kimmich’s camp and Real Madrid.
Real Madrid may look for a midfielder with stronger ball control this summer, with players like Atalanta’s Ederson and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi considered preferred options for that role. Kimmich has not been among their primary targets, but depending on developments with other players, Los Blancos could consider a move for him—especially given their recent policy of signing veteran players only as free agents.
However, how long Kimmich is willing to wait could be a key factor in determining whether this transfer happens or not.
