Hansi Flick said that Barcelona’s decisive victory against Real Madrid was dedicated to their fans, as the club registered its first La Liga win at the Bernabeu since March 2022.
The former Bayern Munich coach now has 10 wins and one loss as Barcelona’s manager, along with a 4-1 victory against his former club in the Champions League. Although the first half seemed to favor the hosts, Flick emphasized that his high line worked as planned. Barcelona caught their opponents offside 12 times in total, eight of which were in the first half.
“Today was a good step for us,” Flick said in his post-match press conference. “We defeated one of the best teams in the world.
“How am I experiencing this moment? It’s not about me. It’s about the team, the fans, and the club. We’re all happy, but right now we’re thinking of the fans because they deserve this.
“I always say that we want to improve, and today it wasn’t easy, but we succeeded. We’re in a very good rhythm.”
“At halftime, I told them it was important to keep the pressure and have more control of the ball.
“We always play with a very forward backline, and in goal situations, because referees don’t always blow the whistle, it looks risky, but it’s not. This is one aspect that I don’t like very much.”
