Real Madrid will likely attempt to sign a new center-back in 2025.
Despite the departures of Nacho Fernandez and Rafa Marin, no one was brought in over the summer, which means Carlo Ancelotti currently has only Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao as options until David Alaba returns from a ligament injury.
At this stage, one of Real Madrid’s main targets in this regard is Castello Lukeba. He is a highly sought-after left-footed center-back, and the 21-year-old fits well with the team’s playing philosophy. However, it seems he won’t come cheap.
A move in January seems unlikely, and next summer, Sky Germany has reported that Lukeba’s release clause will be set at €90 million. This means RB Leipzig wouldn’t be under pressure to sell for anything less than that amount.
Next summer, Lukeba could be available for €65 million, although Real Madrid will surely not want to wait that long.
It remains to be seen if these developments will make any difference in their pursuit.
