Klopp becomes Global Head of Football at Red Bull

Jurgen Klopp has been appointed as the Global Head of Football at Red Bull.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager will take on the new position starting from January 1, 2025. “After more than 25 years on the field, I couldn’t be more excited to be involved in a project like this,” the 57-year-old stated, according to “BBC,” reported by “Gazeta Express.”

“The position has changed, but my passion for football and for the people who make this game has not changed at all,” he added.

The energy drink brand Red Bull owns the German club RB Leipzig, the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, the American club New York Red Bulls, and the Brazilian club Red Bull Bragantino.

It also holds small shares in the English club, Leeds.

Red Bull announced that Klopp will not be involved in day-to-day operations but will oversee teams in game philosophy, transfer strategy, and training development.

“Jurgen Klopp is one of the greatest and most influential figures in the world of football, with extraordinary skills and his charisma,” said Oliver Mintzlaff, the CEO of the company in the corporation’s projects and investments division.

“In his role as Head of Football, he will be a game-changer for our development in international football and its ongoing improvement,” he continued.

Klopp won eight trophies in his nine years at Liverpool, including the Premier League and the Champions League, before leaving Anfield Road at the end of last season.

He began his managerial career at Mainz in 2001 before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2008, where he won two Bundesliga titles and reached the Champions League final in 2013.

He resigned in May 2015 to take a break, before succeeding Brendan Rodgers at Anfield in October that year.

Red Bull has invested in various sports, including ice hockey, extreme sports, motorsports, and two Formula 1 teams, with Red Bull Racing currently holding the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in the sport.

The press conference for Klopp’s official announcement will take place in mid-January next year.
