The top fifteen best and most affordable destinations worldwide were presented in the British Post’s annual report, with three European destinations also making it into the top 10.
The list is not based on the overall availability of prices and does not take into account transportation and accommodation costs, but rather the things that an average tourist spends money on at the destination.
Their selections include beer, coffee, water, wine, sunscreen, insect repellent—these are the items generally purchased in cafes, shops, and restaurants.
The most affordable European destination ranked fifth on the list.
The most affordable summer destination in Europe is the southern region of Algarve, located in Portugal on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
They maintained their fifth position compared to last year, and for the eight observed items, tourists will spend £59.69 or €69.96. The area also boasts a beach that has been voted the most beautiful in the world!
The second most affordable destination in Europe and the seventh worldwide is Sunny Beach in Bulgaria.
This region on the Black Sea coast is known for its nightlife, which attracts young people, as well as for cultural sights in the vicinity. The basket of eight monitored products there costs £62.49 or €72.92.
The third most affordable holiday destination in Europe and the tenth in the world is the Cypriot city of Paphos. Paphos is believed to be the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite.
It is rich in historical sites, so within the city itself, along the coast, there is a large archaeological park with the remains of ancient palaces and theaters, mosaics, and columns from various periods of antiquity. Here, on Europe’s sunniest island, a basket of eight items will cost you £73.32 or €85.56.
