Jose Mourinho has taken over as the manager of Fenerbahce, with the goal of bringing the title back to the team after an 11-year absence.
To achieve this, the Portuguese coach is working to build a competitive squad that can challenge Galatasaray and Besiktas.
The Special One wants to strengthen the midfield, with his main target being Barcelona’s star Ilkay Gundogan.
The Turkish-German midfielder could leave Barcelona as the Catalan club is looking to sell him in order to fund the arrivals of Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.
Spanish daily AS has reported that Mourinho is personally involved and is trying to persuade the midfielder to join him at Fenerbahce.
Galatasaray, as well as some Arab teams, have also shown interest in the former Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund player.
However, Gundogan has not yet decided whether he will leave or stay at Barcelona, although the Catalan club would welcome his departure.
