Chelsea has reportedly agreed on a deal with Aston Villa for Romelu Lukaku, who is also being targeted by Napoli.
After his return to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2021 for nearly €100 million, seven years after leaving the Blues, Lukaku’s future has been a major concern for Chelsea for the third consecutive summer, as the Belgian striker has failed to make a significant impact at the club. The Blues are now looking to offload him in a permanent deal following two consecutive loan spells at Inter Milan and Roma.
According to Il Mattino, Aston Villa and Chelsea have agreed on terms for Lukaku, as the Blues want to offload the Belgian as soon as possible due to his €400,000-a-week wage. However, the report suggests that the striker is not interested in a move to Birmingham, as he is waiting for Napoli.
Napoli and Chelsea have been in talks for a move for Lukaku, as new coach Antonio Conte wants to sign a reliable striker, with Victor Osimhen seemingly set to move to Chelsea.
Chelsea wants to resolve the Lukaku situation before the start of their pre-season tour in the United States. However, they now wish to finalize the matter before the Premier League season begins, with Manchester City visiting Stamford Bridge on August 18.
