Gareth Southgate, the coach who resigned after England’s loss to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, did not call up Jack Grealish for the German tournament. The Manchester City midfielder admitted he was surprised not to see his name in the Three Lions squad.
“I have to be honest and say that, in terms of football, it was the hardest moment I’ve ever faced in my career. I was devastated, heartbroken. I went on holiday and wherever I was, on my phone or on the TV, there were news and updates about the Euros.”
“It was very difficult because I felt I should have been in the team, that I could have offered something different. I will use this as motivation for the new season and show that some people were wrong about me,” the player stated in an interview with the media.
Jack Grealish has made 36 appearances for the England national team and was present at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
