After failing to sign Leny Yoron, Real Madrid has decided not to transfer a new center-back, despite the departures of Nacho Fernandez and Rafa Marin.
As things stand, they will have only four options in this position: Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao, David Alaba, and Jesus Vallejo.
However, only three of them will be available before the start of the new season. Alaba is still recovering from the ACL injury he suffered last December.
The Austrian was expected to return in October, but this has not happened and has exceeded the club officials’ predictions.
As reported by Relevo, Alaba’s recovery is going slower than expected. Club officials do not believe he will return in October, and they have now decided not to set a date for his return.
This means that Rudiger, Militao, and Vallejo will share the minutes in central defense for a longer period, with Aurelien Tchouameni also being an option if needed.
Although in such a situation, Real Madrid’s stance has not changed, and they have already decided against transferring a new defender.
The return of Mario Gila to the team from Lazio was an option that was considered, although the Madrid club has also ruled this out.
