Simone Inzaghi is expected to become the highest-paid coach in Serie A after finally agreeing on the financial details of a new contract with reigning champions Inter.
The recent Scudetto winner is set to sign a new two-year deal that will extend until the summer of 2026, according to Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Sport Italia.
The 48-year-old is expected to earn a salary of 6.5 million euros per season, excluding performance-related bonuses, which is even higher than the 6 million euros per year (plus bonuses) contract that Antonio Conte recently signed with Napoli.
Inter is expected to finalize the contract extension by Wednesday, with an official announcement to follow shortly after. The coach’s current contract expires at the end of next season, in the summer of 2025.
Inzaghi has been in talks for a renewal for several months, but an agreement was not expected to be reached before the conclusion of the 2023-24 championship.
Inter ultimately topped Serie A with a 19-point lead last season, leading their Milan rivals with a score of 94 points to their 75.
Inzaghi also helped Inter reach their first Champions League final in over a decade last year, narrowly missing out on the trophy to treble-winning Manchester City.
