Tyson Fury is back on track to meet Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in a mega-million dollar fight in Saudi Arabia.
The Gypsy King’s team is in talks worth even more than the €100 million win, which saw Usyk hold his WBA, IBF and WBO belts. The fight to unify these titles with Fury’s WBC belt is scheduled for December 17.
This is the night before the 2022 World Cup final in neighboring Qatar and the war would intensify the focus on the Middle East.
Prince Mohammad Abdulaziz, the Saudi minister for sports, confirmed: “We are very interested in the fight for the undisputed heavyweight title. We are looking to do this in the city of Riyadh.”
After beating Joshua for the second time, the 35-year-old Usyk said: “The fight with Fury is the only one I want. If that doesn’t happen, I can’t fight again. But I believe that soon we will fight each other”
The WBC has given Fury until Friday to withdraw before declaring the title vacant. Fury has said that he expects 500 million euros to re-enter the ring.
He will have to modify this request, but can expect to receive €45-50 million from a fight package worth at least €150 million.
