Barcelona is reported to have decided who will succeed Xavi Hernandez if the latter sticks to his decision to leave at the end of the season.
As known, the Spanish coach had announced earlier that he would leave after the current season. As is the case with almost every decision at Barcelona currently, Xavi’s replacement will also depend on the financial situation.
According to “Sport,” Rafael Marquez will follow Xavi if there is no turnaround in his future. The latter will be given the chance to prove himself in the next two weeks, and if the results come, then he may retain his position if he wishes.
The club’s president, Joan Laporta, is said to be “keen” on this option and will try to convince Xavi to do so.
If Xavi leaves, then the current coach of Barca Atletic, Marquez, will take over. The Mexican coach is said to have already been mentioned within the offices of Barcelona as “our coach” privately.
Positive results for Barca Atletic – currently second in their group in Primera RFEF – his knowledge of the academy, ability to adapt to circumstances, and his relationship with Decon and Laporta have been cited as reasons for consensus within the club to choose him as Xavi’s successor.
