The Mermaid
(Kids corner- Stories versified)

In the quiet moments of a starry night
A beautiful Little girl woke to a peculiar sight
For in her bathtub, a wonder did lay
A mermaid wizardry in waters at play

How she materialized, a mystery untold
Perhaps through theurgy or stories of old
Her scales were aglow and tail was blue
She beckoned the girl, “Come closer, do.”

The girl, astounded, but brave and bold
Went near the mermaid, her hand to hold
With surprise in her eyes and a heart so pure
She listened intently, to the tales of sea’s allure

Together they laughed, in that magical space
Imagining worlds in a metaphysical chase
But as the sun’s light began to break
Sadly, the mermaid was taken aback

With a splash, she vanished from the sight
Leaving the girl with memories so bright
And though the bathtub wasn’t occupied anymore
In girl’s heart, the magic would always soar
