Real Madrid secured a clean 2-0 victory against Athletic Bilbao last night (Sunday), thanks to two goals scored by Rodrygo.
However, alongside the joy of the win, what worried Real Madrid fans was Fede Valverde’s early departure from the game due to an injury he sustained during the match. Regarding the Uruguayan’s health condition, coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke at the press conference after the game, reassuring fans that there is nothing serious.
“Valverde suffered a knock, but it’s not a problem,” the Italian coach initially stated. “We have nine days to rest, and everyone will have the opportunity to recover. He didn’t play today with the intensity he usually shows, but it’s difficult to play at such a high tempo after the international break,” Ancelotti declared. Valverde is expected to fully recover and be available for the team’s match against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals next week.
The Uruguayan captain has played the most minutes and started more matches than any other Real Madrid player this season.
He has played a total of 3284 minutes across 41 matches. However, Valverde has only scored one goal this season, while also contributing with eight assists.
