The Ballon d’Or ceremony for the year 2024 will take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France, on October 28.
There is still more than half a year left before the winner of the highest individual prize for footballers, the Ballon d’Or, is announced.
However, the bookmakers have already determined the favorites, where surprises are not lacking in the rankings.
According to the probabilities offered by Megapari, Real Madrid’s star, Jude Bellingham, leads the chances of winning with odds of 4.0 or 25 percent probability.
PSG striker Kylian Mbappe is second close with 4.5 (22.2 percent chance), followed by Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Manchester City’s star, Erling Haaland, both strikers with odds of 5.5 with 18.2 percent chances.
Haaland’s teammate, Rodri, is also in the top 5, but his chances of 10 percent or odds of 10 suggest that bettors don’t have much confidence in him.
Perhaps the surprise is the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, who is ranked sixth, even though he is away from European championships. The Argentine already has eight Ballon d’Or trophies in his trophy cabinet, but his chances of adding the ninth trophy are equal to those of Rodri: 10.0 (10 percent probability).
Certainly, Messi remains the biggest star at Inter Miami, but usually only players from the top European leagues win the Ballon d’Or.
