Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, has warned that Xavi may remain as the team’s head coach even after the end of this season.
Xavi had announced at the end of January that he would offer his resignation during the summer.
The 44-year-old had insisted that the club needs to change its dynamics, but since his announcement of departure, the team’s form has improved, winning seven out of ten matches in all competitions.
Barça is second in the table, eight points behind Real Madrid, and in the Champions League quarter-finals, they will face Paris Saint-Germain.
Barça has declared that the door is open for Xavi to stay as manager, and this has also been confirmed by Laporta.
“I say that for what will happen at Barça, we will wait until the end of the season because we will not do anything until Xavi’s decision,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.
“If he decides to leave and for those who want to come to Barça, we will wait. For those we don’t wait for, it’s okay, we have a solution.”
“I like Luis Enrique, he’s very good, but we haven’t spoken to him or anyone else because we respect Xavi,” Laporta said.
