Poem by Taghreed Fayyad]

From the collection: (A Heart on a Travel) – 2006

Register, I am a female…. and the warmth of my feelings is my fault
Register I am female…..
Death and birth in the bubble of the heart
My maps strip me before humans and jinn…

I am not the century… I am not the house…
I am not the earth.. a crystal image

My tears are the cry of birth…and my remains are buried in the tip of the clouds
My share is a drop of perfume…it glorifies me…it crowns me…
And guide me to the monsters of love and anger

The evidence of this shame…and in this belt of fire
In this, I paid my blood and spirit to the hurricane

I am a female despite the shame…despite death
I draw it on the clouds…and I raise it to the breezes
I am the Arabic hurricane….I am the Arabic whisperer

I was born from the activities of the Earth…when it cried
I crawled on the cracks in the rock…
I drank from my child…the milk of red revolution and anger

Register, I am female.. and the registrant lost my addresses
You see me as the morning sun
You see me as a flower and a lily…
You see me the perfume of my beloved travels in my drink..

I am unconditionally female…unconditionally
Attaf and in my paradise….Love is lost to us
Pride is lost in pride

I registered as a female…
And the warmth of my feelings… my guilt…
