Marvel Studios not only revealed a new release date for The Fantastic Four, but they finally unveiled who will play in the film, and they did it in an original way.
The film will hit theaters on July 25, 2025, starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bakrak as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. They shared the big news with fans through social media with a marvelous poster showing all these characters together celebrating Valentine’s Day. The image also includes the delightful robot HERBIE and a mural painting of Ben Grimm by Moss-Bakrak as a NASA astronaut before transforming into Thing. Rumors about the Fantastic Four cast have been some of the biggest circulating in the Marvel universe, and now we finally have the confirmation.
Marvel also confirms that John Krasinski, who played Reed Richards in Doctor Strange, will not reprise his role in this film… at least not in the lead role. You never know with the Marvel Multiverse. Pascal, who continues to build an impressive resume after The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, and more, is rumored to have taken on the role of Reed Richards since November 2023, and this turned out to be true.
Fantastic Four is part of the fifth phase of the MCU. Matt Shankman will direct, and Josh Friedman said he was brought in to enhance the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
We don’t know much about the movie, but we know it won’t be a coming-of-age story and it will be partly inspired by the series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” because director Shankman has worked on this series for a long time and learned a lot about how a group of creators function through it.
