Bran Castle, Romania

Bran Castle, located near Brasov in Romania, is often referred to as “Dracula’s Castle” due to its connection with the famous fictional vampire character, Count Dracula, created by Bram Stoker.

Built in the 14th century, Bran Castle stands majestically atop a hill, overlooking the picturesque Transylvanian countryside. Its striking architecture, with its turrets, towers, and imposing walls, adds to its mysterious allure.

While there is little historical evidence linking Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Count Dracula, to Bran Castle, it still captures the imagination of visitors with its eerie atmosphere and Gothic charm.

Today, Bran Castle is a popular tourist destination, offering visitors the chance to explore its rooms, corridors, and secret passages, as well as learn about its rich history and legends. The castle houses a museum showcasing furniture, art, and artifacts from the medieval period, providing insight into life in Transylvania centuries ago.

With its fascinating history, stunning architecture, and association with one of literature’s most iconic characters, Bran Castle continues to intrigue and enchant visitors from around the world.
