It’s been reported that Hollywood’s renowned actor, Ben Affleck, was upset when his partner, singer Jennifer Lopez, gathered a group of musicians at home to work on her new album and was showing them the love letters Affleck had written her, in order to inspire them for the new music.
Variety magazine interviewed the singer about her recent projects, the documentary “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story” and the album “This Is Me…Now”, projects which are a continuation of her album “This Is Me… Then”, released in 2002 when she was in a romantic relationship with Affleck.
Journalist Stephen Rodrick writes that in the documentary, Affleck states that privacy is sacred.
According to Rodrick, Affleck was upset when she showed her musician friends his love letters to inspire them to create the new album. In one scene of the documentary, Affleck appears slightly upset as he enters the room and sees the letters being distributed. Then he goes to the camera and says, “I actually found the beauty, the poetry, the irony in fact that this is the greatest love story never told and it seemed like it was being told,” Rodrick said.
When this part was published in the magazine, many users on social network “X” criticized Lopez. “Sharing other people’s personal love letters without their permission seems like a strange thing to do,” one wrote.
“Matt Damon wouldn’t do this,” another wrote, referring to the close friendship Affleck has with actor Matt Damon.
What makes this even more interesting is the fact that Affleck stated in an interview that the reason he and Lopez broke up was the media pressure that didn’t allow anything to remain private.
“I would say media pressure was 50 percent responsible for the destruction of our relationship,” Affleck said in 2021 to Bazaar magazine.
The couple had started their relationship in 2002 and it lasted until 2004. This happened just a few days before their wedding. They rebuilt their relationship 20 years later and remarried in 2022.
Lopez and Affleck have also appeared together in a “Dunkin’” coffee commercial, which aired during the “Super Bowl” spectacle.
