Katy Perry will not be part of “American Idol” after seven seasons Katy Perry announced her departure from “American Idol” during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Monday night, eight months after internal sources exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com that she felt ‘dismissed’ by producers.
The 39-year-old pop star and “American Idol” judge used her spot on the ABC show to break the news, which comes after seven seasons on the music competition series. The singer has been planning her exit from the show since last year, when it was revealed she felt continuously ‘dismissed by producers’ who she believed were purposefully editing her to appear as the ‘bad judge’, writes DailyMail,
During the conversation, Jimmy asked how long she planned to continue her stint as one of the three judges on “American Idol”, alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
“As long as you go, are you going to go?” he asked.
“You know, actually this fall in September, I’m doing this big music festival in Brazil called Rock In Rio. It’s really exciting,” Katy began her response.
“It’s a big deal. It’s a big deal for people around the world, especially for my Brazilian fans. I think this might be my last show, my last season for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much,” she added.
