With the exception of a possible move from Saudi Arabia, Karim Benzema’s options to leave Al-Ittihad this month are limited.
According to “L’Equipe,” discussions for sending the Frenchman to another Saudi club are ongoing, as reported by Gazeta Express.
Earlier this month, “AFP” reported that Benzema had sought to leave Al-Ittihad just a few months after arriving as a free agent from Real Madrid.
While representatives of the 36-year-old have denied the reports, the names of interested clubs have started circulating, including Lyon, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
However, Saudi Arabian authorities are determined to prevent his return to Europe, considering such a move would damage the image of the Saudi Super League.
With only eight days left until the start of the season in the Gulf state, “L’Equipe” reports that negotiations for the transfer of the “Golden Ball” winner to another Saudi club are underway.
The identity of the club has not been disclosed.
However, Al-Ittihad must first approve the move, which they have not done yet.
