Cristiano Ronaldo has backed one of Manchester City, Bayern Munich, or Real Madrid to win the Champions League this season.
The 38-year-old Al Nassr forward was present at the Globe Soccer Awards on Friday, where he won the Player of the Year awards from Fans, Best Goal Scorer, and Best Player in the Middle East.
While accepting his awards, Ronaldo was asked questions by the attendees and was requested to share his thoughts on the Champions League competition this season, as reported by 90min, broadcasted by Klankosova.tv.
“Manchester City finally won the Champions League, they maybe deserved it two years ago. I like to see how they play. They have a good chance to win the Champions League again,” he expressed.
“[City] is always up there to be the favorite, but it’s always the same clubs: Bayern, Manchester City, Real Madrid.”
Ronaldo’s award for the best goal scorer came after he found the net more than any other male player in the top football in 2023.
The veteran striker scored 54 goals for Al Nassr and Portugal in the past calendar year, two ahead of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, and four ahead of Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
“I was the top scorer this season; imagine I could surpass younger players like Haaland. I take pride in it, and I am almost 39 years old,” said Ronaldo.
“I like it when people doubt me again, and then we prove them wrong. Criticisms don’t affect me,” he emphasized.
