Atletico Madrid takes revenge on Real Madrid in the drama of six goals.

Unlike nine days ago, when Real Madrid secured a victory against Atletico Madrid in extra time with a 5-3 result in the Spanish Super Cup, this time Diego Simeone’s team took revenge against Carlo Ancelotti’s team, winning 3-2 after 120 minutes of play.

The initial 90 minutes were not sufficient again to determine a winner between the two Madrid teams.

Atletico, as the home team in this match, had three different instances where they took a one-goal lead against the Kings. In the first two instances, the score was leveled, while Griezmann’s goal in extra time had no response.

A terrible mistake by Rudiger led the ball to Samuel Lino, who scored the first goal of the match in the 39th minute, making it 1-0.

In the additional minutes of the first half, Real Madrid returned to the game when Jan Oblak, after a misguided clearance, scored an own goal, making it 1-1, the score with which the first half concluded.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Alvaro Morata found himself in the right moment, scoring into the empty net for 2-1 after a triple deflection by Real Madrid players.

The Kings reacted once again. Joselu, who entered the field in the 81st minute, scored 60 seconds later, assisted by Bellingham, to equalize the score at 2-2.

Until the end of the 90 minutes, there was no change, and the match went into extra time.

Diego Simeone’s team scored two goals in the final minutes of extra time to secure a significant victory.

Firstly, it was Griezmann who scored a fantastic goal in the 100th minute after a solo run, putting his team ahead for the third time in the match.

Meanwhile, for the final score of 4-2, Riquelme scored in the last minute of extra time after a quick counterattack.

Thus, Atletico Madrid, with today’s victory, eliminates Real Madrid from the King’s Cup and continues its journey to the quarterfinals, completing the number of eight teams.
