Barcelona will defend its title on Sunday in the final of the Spanish Super Cup to be played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is a rematch of last season’s final against a Real Madrid side looking to compensate for the loss suffered a year ago.
“We might be a bit out of form, but it’s a match where we will play as equals. Real Madrid is not playing for revenge. We respect the rival that defeated us last year, but the hunger to win is always the same. It’s a pleasure to prepare for such a match as we are under the eyes of the whole world,” said the Barcelona coach.
Ball control is the key for Barça to try to repeat the victory against Real Madrid, whom they defeated 3-1 in January 2023 in the Saudi capital.
“I see the team very motivated and inspired. It’s an ideal scenario for a footballer to play for a title at Real Madrid. We will try to have a good match, we will follow the example of last year, which was ideal for us, imposing our style and dominating the game. We hope to enjoy this final with the first title of the season.”
Barcelona, which barely qualified against Osasuna, won’t have it easy, while Real Madrid won 5-3 against Atletico a few days ago.
