POEM BY IDALMIS SEGURA CARMENATE (CUBA)

I INSPIRE THE NIGHT

I am inspired by the crystal clear waters that overflow from the waterfall.
The pearly drops that are embroidered
on my cheeks.
The breeze, that bends the willow
in the clear night.

I am inspired by the light
of the moon in the stillness
of the early morning,
the song of the cigarette
and the night bird’s raging flight.

Yeah it inspires me the night,
and the one who loves me…
The lips he offers me,
mint flavored and feverish tenderness.
I am inspired by his breath
around my neck.
And her hands going
through my breasts…

My great inspiration,
is the one who loves me,
navigating his sweats over my body.
Incubating my orchid,
on the passionate nights.

Oh, delirium between
the songs of the Madreselva.
