Wayne Rooney believes that Manchester United should appoint Michael Carrick as the team’s permanent manager following the 3–1 victory over Aston Villa.
Speaking to BBC after the match, he said:
“100 percent he should take the job. I’ve said this before. I knew this would happen with Michael Carrick.”
“I know him very well. I know his character and personality. The team needed a calm head, but also someone who knows the club, and the players needed a bit of support — and he has given them that.”

“We’ve seen the players perform with more quality, more united as a team, and now they look like a very strong squad. For me, why would you change that?”
“He has the best win percentage of any Manchester United manager after this many games. For me, he should get the job.”
Manchester United currently sits third in the Premier League standings after 30 rounds with 54 points, while the main objective remains securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
