Vincent Kompany, head coach of Bayern Munich, has strongly criticized Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese manager’s reaction to allegations of racism made by Vinicius Jr during the Champions League match between Benfica and Real Madrid.
Kompany stated that Mourinho made a “serious mistake” by attacking Vinicius’ character, stressing that the Brazilian’s reaction was completely natural and justified. He also criticized Mourinho for using Eusebio as an example to deny the possibility of racism.
The incident occurred when the Real Madrid forward accused Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni of using racist language during the celebration of his goal, a claim supported by teammates such as Kylian Mbappe. Prestianni is now facing an investigation by UEFA, while Mourinho has come under widespread criticism for the way he handled the situation.
