Russian forces launched a barrage of hundreds of drones and missiles against Ukraine overnight on Thursday, targeting several cities and striking civilian sites as well as energy infrastructure.
The city of Nizhyn in the northern Chernihiv region was heavily bombarded late Wednesday night. Local officials said several residential areas were hit by a wave of Russian drones that began around 7 p.m. local time. Two people were injured and taken to hospital as a result of the attacks. Two residential buildings and several vehicles were also damaged.
Emergency response units reported that the roof of one of the targeted buildings partially collapsed, compromising its structural integrity and rendering it unsafe for residents.
Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy condemned the attacks as acts of Russian terror and intimidation, calling for increased international pressure to force the Kremlin to return to the negotiating table and bring an end to the ongoing war, which has now entered its fourth year.
