Real Madrid have three options to strengthen their defensive line

Real Madrid are expected to return to the transfer market this summer to reinforce their defense, but unlike previous years when deals were finalized as early as April, that has not yet been the case this season.

There are three main options that stand out as potential candidates for “Los Blancos.”

Initially, it was thought that Real Madrid would aim for two new signings, but with Antonio Rüdiger possibly renewing his contract, this could mean that only one player will arrive.

The Madrid club spent €60 million last summer on Dean Huijsen, while Raúl Asencio became part of the first team at the end of last season.

One of the most frequently mentioned names is Nico Schlotterbeck, and according to RadioMarca, he is indeed a desired target for the Madrid side. On the other hand, Borussia Dortmund are trying to renew his contract before the summer.

The 21-year-old was transferred from Castilla for €2.5 million, and Real Madrid have the option to bring him back for €8 million this summer, or for €9 million next summer. The idea is for this to happen either this year or next.

It has not been revealed what the deciding factor will be for this choice, but it seems likely that Ramón could be Antonio Rüdiger’s replacement whenever he leaves the Santiago Bernabéu.

Meanwhile, Nico Schlotterbeck or Ibrahima Konaté are expected to compete for a starting spot if they are signed, but the cost could be the decisive factor in this matter.

Real Madrid are also in talks with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, who will become a free agent this summer, although it appears he has dropped in the club’s priorities compared to last year.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, both Como coach Cesc Fàbregas and Real Madrid are very pleased with the development of Jacobo Ramón in Serie A.
