POEM BY MARIELA CORDERO (VENEZUELA)

MARIELA CORDERO (Valencia, Venezuela, 1985) is a Venezuelan lawyer, poet, writer, translator, and visual artist. Her poetry has appeared in various international anthologies. She has received several distinctions, including: Third Prize of Poetry Alejandra Pizarnik (Argentina, 2014); First Prize of the II Iberoamerican Poetry Contest Euler Granda (Ecuador, 2015); Second Prize of Poetry Concorso Letterario Internazionale Bilingüe Tracceperlameta Edizioni (Italy, 2015); Award Micropoems in Spanish of the III contest TRANSPalabr@RTE (2015); First Place in the International Poetry Contest #AniversarioPoetasHispanos, literary quality mention (Spain, 2016); Finalist Aco Karamanow International Poetry Prize (Macedonia, 2022); Rahim Karim World Prize for Literature (2022); César Vallejo World Prize for Literary Excellence (2023); Sahitto International Prize for Literary Excellence (2023); and the Naji Naaman Literary Prize (Lebanon, 2025). Her published collections of poems include: El cuerpo de la duda (Editorial Publicarte, Caracas, Venezuela, 2013); Transfigurar es un país que amas (Editorial Dos Islas, Miami, United States, 2020); and La larga noche de las jaurías (Editorial Nautilus, Spain, 2023). She has participated in several international literary meetings and festivals, such as: The Princeton Festival (United States), Festival Internacional de Poesía Parque Chas (Argentina), Festival Internacional Bitola Memoria Literaria, Festival Internacional de Poesía Xochimilco (Mexico), X Festival Iberoamericano de Fusagasugá (Colombia, 2023), and Kaohsiung World Poetry Festival (Taiwan). Her poems have been translated into Hindi, Czech, Estonian, Serbian, Shona, Uzbek, Romanian, Macedonian, Korean, Hebrew, Bengali, English, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Polish. She currently serves as an editorial advisor for the Journal of Symbology of South Korea and coordinates the #VenezuelanPoetry and #WorldPoetry sections in Poetry Magazine Poémame (Spain).
