Lionel Messi continues to make history in Major League Soccer.
On the night of March 7–8, the Argentine genius helped Inter Miami secure their second consecutive win, defeating DC United 2–1 away from home.
The highlight of the match was Messi’s goal, which now puts him on the verge of an extraordinary achievement. This goal marked the 899th official goal of Leo’s brilliant career. In the current MLS season, Messi has already scored three times — previously, he netted two goals against Orlando City.
The victory for Javier Mascherano’s men was secured thanks to excellent finishes from the Argentine stars: alongside Messi, Rodrigo De Paul also found the net.
The hosts were only able to respond with a single goal from Tai Baribo, which was not enough to prevent the Herons from taking all three points and climbing to third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The next opportunity to witness Messi’s historic 900th goal could come as early as March 12, when Inter Miami faces Nashville in the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Kick-off is scheduled for 00:30 Central European Time. ⚽
