Croatian maestro Luka Modric has made a decision – his era with the royal club has come to an end. His last act will be the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.
As the Croatian medium Germanijak reports, Luka ordered farewell gifts several weeks ago, which will be around 50 watches. They will be marked with his years at Madrid, 2012 and 2024, but also with a special detail inside – a photo of him. Perhaps he ordered the gifts just when he became the oldest and most successful player in the history of the great club. Specifically, four rounds before the end of this season, Real Madrid secured their 36th Spanish championship title. With this title win, the captain of the Croatian national team entered the history books of Los Blancos once again. Modric won his 25th trophy as a Real Madrid player and thus joined three other players: Marcelo, Karim Benzema, and his current teammate – Nacho Fernandez. The Spaniards “crowned” Modric after he became the most trophy-winning player in the history of Real Madrid.

In the Champions League final, he has the opportunity to win a new trophy, and at the same time the chance to win the Champions League for the sixth time. Luka reached the peak of Europe for the first time in 2014 under the guidance of current coach Carlo Ancelotti. Then followed a hat-trick from 2016 to 2018 during the period when Real Madrid was led by Zinedine Zidane.
Again with Ancelotti in charge, Modric and Real Madrid also won in 2022. If he wins the sixth one, Luka will once again make history as the player with the most victories in the Champions League.
In addition, Modric became the oldest player in Real Madrid in La Liga. He surpassed the legendary Ferenc Puskas. Modric achieved this at the age of 38 years and 238 days.
