Lamine Yamal unhappy with Barcelona over the handling of his injury

Barcelona has faced many injury problems this season, and the most significant has been that of Lamine Yamal. The 18-year-old initially suffered a groin injury in September and, although he is now close to full recovery, he has struggled with this issue for almost three months.

Lamine Yamal returned from the Spanish National Team with pubalgia, which forced him to miss the matches against Valencia, Newcastle United, Getafe and Real Oviedo. He came back against Real Sociedad, but after two matches played within a few days – against Sociedad and Paris Saint-Germain – the injury resurfaced again. This caused him to miss Spain’s last four matches, creating tension between Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation. It has now been revealed that Lamine Yamal was not at all satisfied with the way the club managed his recovery.

According to The Athletic, during the October break, Lamine Yamal complained to Barcelona, making it clear that he was not happy with the recovery process overseen by the club’s medical department under the supervision of Julio Tous. He requested to be treated by other members of the staff, and this was approved.

His injury is one of 12 suffered by first-team players this season – compared to only eight during the same period last season. In recent weeks, coach Hansi Flick has decided to return to the methods from his first season in Catalonia, as he searches for more effective solutions.

Barcelona has undoubtedly been affected by the absence of key players such as Joan Garcia, Pedri, and Raphinha. The club hopes that the recent changes in the management of injury recovery will show results, and the coming weeks will determine whether these measures will work.
