“I Want to Step Back” – Neymar Reveals Shocking Retirement Plans

Brazilian star and Santos forward Neymar has stated that he is considering retirement once his contract with the Brazilian club expires at the end of the year.

Neymar is working hard to earn a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in June, which could also be the last major tournament of his career.

This comes as the Brazilian attacker himself has announced plans to retire from active football in the near future.
“I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t know what next year will bring. It’s possible that in December I may want to retire,” Neymar said initially.

“I’m taking things day by day now. This year is very important, not only for Santos, but also for the Brazilian national team, because it’s a World Cup year. For me as well, it’s a big challenge. I’m taking it day by day,” the 34-year-old concluded.

Meanwhile, Neymar has played 128 matches for the Brazil national team, scoring 79 goals. He also enjoyed a highly successful career in Europe with clubs such as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, before moving to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
