Harry Kane and the clause that is “stirring up” Bayern Munich – the sporting director speaks

Star striker Harry Kane, England captain and one of the greatest goalscorers in world football, is being seen as one of the most sought-after players on the transfer market for next season.

The main reason? A clause in his contract with Bayern Munich that could allow him to leave for around €65 million — a surprising figure for a player of his caliber.

In Kane’s current contract with Bayern, which runs until June 2027, there is a release clause that could give him the opportunity to leave the Bavarian club next summer if a club pays the exact amount within a specific time period.

According to German media, the clause will be active until the end of February 2026 and could result in a summer transfer for around €65 million — a relatively low fee for an elite striker like Kane, reports Gazeta Express.

This situation has sparked discussions and speculation across Europe, as many top clubs may consider activating the clause to secure his services for the 2026–27 season.

Despite the media buzz, Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, has calmed fans by saying that the club is “in close contact” with Kane regarding his future and the team’s continued success.

According to Eberl, there are currently no open negotiations for the player’s departure, but there are ongoing talks to discuss future plans.

He also emphasized that he cannot confirm rumors about other clubs preparing bids, but made it clear that Bayern highly values the player and wants to keep him as a central part of their sporting project.

Beyond the irrevocability of the clause, there are also rumors that powerful clubs — including some teams from the Saudi Pro League — may be monitoring Kane’s situation in an attempt to secure his transfer, should the striker choose a new adventure outside Germany.

However, for now, both the club and the player appear keen to review the contract and decide on the future together, without haste and without drastic decisions.
