Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has made history at the Catalan club by becoming the first Spanish player to register more than 10 goal contributions in a single Champions League season.
The 22-year-old was one of the main protagonists in Barcelona’s emphatic 7–2 victory over Newcastle United in the Round of 16. López scored in the 51st minute to make it 4–2 and also provided an assist during the match.
Thanks to this performance, he has reached a total of 10 goal contributions in this season’s Champions League (6 goals and 4 assists), setting a new record for Spanish players in Barcelona’s history.
His excellent form is not limited to the European stage. Across all competitions this season, López has recorded 12 goals and 16 assists in 38 appearances, becoming one of the team’s key players as Barcelona aims for success both domestically and in Europe.
