European giants rival Barcelona for Rashford’s transfer

Barcelona made a bold decision by signing Marcus Rashford at a time when the English forward had lost his demand in the European market. However, the impressive form of the 28-year-old in La Liga has completely changed the landscape, placing his future at the center of attention for the continent’s biggest clubs.

After a tense period at Manchester United, Rashford’s situation became unstable. Coach Ruben Amorim practically excluded him from his plans following the well-known incident that occurred after the derby loss to Manchester City. Unai Emery, known for his ability to revive players who seem lost, opened the door for the forward and restored him to the center-forward position — a role in which Rashford felt liberated, taking advantage of space.

Barcelona, limited by financial issues but eager to seize the opportunity, chose to sign Rashford as a free transfer in the summer, agreeing to take on his high salary. The decision proved successful — the Englishman has become an undisputed starter under Hansi Flick, especially during Raphinha’s absence. Rashford’s statistics speak for themselves: he has adapted immediately to Flick’s offensive style, which relies on the efficiency of attackers to secure narrow victories.

His accurate shooting and ability to create constant danger have made him a key asset for the Catalans, who want to secure him with a new contract in June.

But unlike a few months ago, Barcelona is no longer the only club competing for his signature. In addition to Chelsea’s long-standing interest, Paris Saint-Germain has recently entered the race as well. According to Caught Offside, PSG is prepared to offer around €50 million for the forward, while the release clause set by Barcelona is only €35 million — a difference that makes the situation even more complicated.

Rashford, who last season played 41 matches between Manchester United and Aston Villa, scoring 11 goals and providing 8 assists in over 2,400 minutes of play, is expected to make an important decision regarding his future in the coming weeks.
