Angel Di Maria is ready to retire from the Argentine National Team. The 35-year-old striker, who has worn the jersey of his country since 2008, has stated that he has already decided to retire, which will come at the end of this season.
The Copa America will be the last major competition that I play with the Argentine national team. These are difficult decisions, but they must be made, as a new generation is coming. I know that I can continue to play in the national team, but I don’t want to close the spaces for the many young people we have”, declared Di Maria.
The attacker made his debut with Argentina in 2008 and since then he has 135 games and 29 goals scored, as he has won every possible trophy with the ‘albiceleste’ shirt, including the World Cup a year ago in Qatar.
