Barcelona, the best home team in European leagues

FC Barcelona are the best home team across Europe’s eight major leagues. In Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands, Hansi Flick’s side are the only team to have won all of their home matches — eleven in total — following their latest victory over Mallorca (3–0).

Moreover, they are one of 10 teams that remain unbeaten up to this Sunday. This group of unbeaten teams also includes Atlético de Madrid in La Liga, PSG in Ligue 1, Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, Napoli and Juventus in Serie A, Porto and Benfica in the Portuguese league, Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian league, and surprise package Sunderland in the Premier League, who have won seven and drawn five of their 12 matches at the Stadium of Light.

Although Barça have played their home matches in three different stadiums during the current La Liga season — Montjuïc, Johan Cruyff Stadium and Spotify Camp Nou — their dominance surpasses that of all other clubs in their respective domestic competitions across Europe’s top eight leagues. Barça have recorded 11 wins from 11 matches, scoring 34 goals and conceding just five. In terms of attacking output, only Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, with 40 goals in 10 matches, have scored more than Barça’s 34.

Defensively, despite the general perception of risk associated with Hansi Flick’s style of play at Barça, the five goals conceded in 11 matches are bettered by only three teams in the leagues mentioned above: PSG in Ligue 1 with four goals conceded in nine matches, Porto in Portugal with two in nine matches, and Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium with two goals conceded in 11 home games. In six matches against Valencia, Getafe, Athletic Bilbao, Osasuna, Oviedo and Mallorca, Barça managed to keep a clean sheet.

To conclude the league season, Barça still have away fixtures against Levante, Villarreal, Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano, Espanyol, Celta Vigo, Real Madrid and Real Betis.
