Álvaro Arbeloa has come out in defense of Jude Bellingham, while expressing his hope that Vinicius Junior will continue to make history with Real Madrid.
Both Madrid stars have been at the center of heavy criticism in recent weeks, coming from a section of Real Madrid supporters as well as the Spanish media. The situation reached a peak midweek, when Bellingham responded directly to his critics after scoring in the emphatic 6–1 victory over Monaco in the Champions League.
Just ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Villarreal in LaLiga, Arbeloa chose to speak openly about the English midfielder, highlighting the satisfaction he has felt working with him.
“It’s my turn to speak about what I’ve experienced. In matches with him, and even in training sessions, he has shown his ability, technique, leadership, and character. The effort he has made has been extraordinary; he has a winning mentality and all the qualities a Real Madrid player needs. I’m very pleased with him.”
On the other hand, Vinicius Junior was one of the main protagonists against Monaco, contributing two assists and a goal. However, his future at the Santiago Bernabéu continues to be surrounded by question marks.
“It’s not up to me; this is a matter between the club and the player. Of course, I hope he continues to make history here.”
In the league, Real Madrid sit just one point behind Barcelona, and Arbeloa believes the team is at a decisive moment of the season.
