A big offer arrives for Salah

Arne Slot may decide he has run out of patience with Mohamed Salah amid reports of a huge offer being prepared for the Liverpool star.

On Sunday afternoon, the Dutch manager suffered one of the heaviest defeats of his career at Anfield, as Manchester United triumphed 2–1 over their historic rivals.

After a controversial goal by Bryan Mbeumo and Cody Gakpo’s equalizer, it was Harry Maguire — the unexpected hero — who scored the decisive goal, handing United their first win at Anfield since January 2016 under Louis van Gaal.

Following the match, several Liverpool players were criticized by fans on social media, with Salah at the center of frustration after yet another disappointing performance.

This match against United was just the latest in a series of poor displays from the Egyptian, which could push Slot to consider selling him — especially as reports suggest a new and massive offer is on the way.

During the 2024/25 season — widely regarded as one of his best at Liverpool — Salah’s future was the subject of much speculation before he eventually signed a contract extension.

After months of negotiations, Salah agreed to a new two-year deal keeping him at the club until 2027.

At that time, Saudi Pro League clubs had made extraordinary offers, with one reportedly worth £500 million in wages if he accepted the move.

Although he will be 35 when his current contract expires, Saudi interest is believed to remain strong.

According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes

, Salah is expected to receive another “million-dollar offer” from Saudi Arabia — and this time, both Slot and Liverpool may take it seriously.

Even though the Egyptian renewed his contract just five months ago, discussions about his future are said to have already begun behind the scenes, due to his recent dip in form.

After the most productive season of his career (47 goals and assists combined), Salah has so far managed only 3 goals and 3 assists in 11 appearances across all competitions this season.

Therefore, if Liverpool were to receive a huge offer — similar to the £150 million bid from Al Ittihad that was rejected in 2023 — the club might consider cashing in to fund a top-quality replacement.

Since arriving at Liverpool in June 2017, Salah has arguably become the greatest player in the club’s modern history, winning almost everything: two Premier League titles, the Champions League, and five PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards — more than any other footballer in history.

However, replacing a figure of his stature would be nearly impossible.

One name repeatedly mentioned as a potential successor to Salah is Bayern Munich star Michael Olise.

Since joining the Allianz Arena side, the Frenchman has scored 26 goals and provided 29 assists in 66 appearances — establishing himself as one of Europe’s standout performers.

Olise is under contract with Bayern until 2029, but according to reports, the deal includes a release clause that will become active in the summer of 2026.
