Poem by Dritëro Agolli

MOTHER

Mother grew thinner withering on,
Lighter than a gull, she came about
One early morning before dawn
She groaned and flew above the cloud

Like Aphrodite, she hid afar
We couldn’t see her, blessèd is said!
It haps sad dreams in waves, by far
Shore her a bird beside my bed
