Ibrahimovic Doesn’t See Himself as a Coach: It Takes Too Much Time

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is enjoying his role as an executive at AC Milan, but he has no plans to switch to a coaching position.

The Swedish legend was asked by Sports Illustrated if he would consider becoming a football coach.

“No. I don’t want to be a coach because it’s too much work for me and takes up too much time. You have to cover many areas, come up with ideas and solutions, prepare, and follow the games. You work day and night. A year as a coach feels like ten years to me, so it doesn’t appeal to me,” Ibrahimovic said.

“Many coaches have a philosophy and a style of play, and then the individual player becomes irrelevant because everyone is forced to adopt a tactic or a system as just one part of the whole. Of course, a coach’s philosophy is important and is used to manage the team.”

“But I think the individual player is the most important thing in a team. Because they are the ones who step onto the field and make the difference. And overall, I don’t think football becomes boring.”

“On the contrary, I feel that it continues to grow. You just need to be smart and not close yourself off to new developments,” the Swedish legend said.

Zlatan is currently working as a senior advisor in the upper management levels at AC Milan, enjoying considerable freedom of action with the club’s owners.
